About Spark Strategies
Spark Strategies is a boutique digital agency specializing in data and analytics, digital marketing, targeted online advertising, and data-informed campaigning.
Spark brings together the best practices in community engagement, data and analytics, and digital to help clients achieve their outreach and marketing goals using the tools and channels voters and supporters expect in 2019.
Michael Roy is Spark’s principal – and brings more than a decade of agency and in-house experience to his leadership role. Michael has worked on regional, national, and international campaigns. He has championed – and in many cases pioneering – the use of databases including Nationbuilder and Blue State Digital tools for advocacy, engagement, and fundraising.
Prior to founding Spark, Michael was Principal and Director of Campaigns for Point Blank Creative, a Vancouver-based creative agency. Michael led or contributed to projects with the Translink Mayors’ Council, BC Federation of Labour, the Alberta Premier’s Office, United Steelworkers, Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada, and the Canadian Labour Congress.
Michael also served as the Digital Director for Canada’s NDP during the 2015 federal election, where he mobilized thousands of people to events, recruited thousands of volunteers, and set national fundraising records.
